Time to relax and read some /mbti/ Movie 1. I've known since I was a little kid that reading stories in reverse order can sometimes be an interesting experience. In this case, it means transitioning from a post-apocalyptic world to a pre-apocalyptic; the world of Movie 1 will presumably be teeming with a lot more life than Movie 3's. I like how Mosley looks similar to his historical namesake. Writing a poem while sitting on the porch is a very comfy introduction for him. "My introverted intuition says this feels like a good day to start an adventure!" is the first overt reference to MBTI in the series (aside from INFJ-A's name). Will be interesting to see if this, being the first movie of the trilogy, features more of an emphasis on giving lessons about MBTI and typology than the other two. Frogoid soldiers, huh. So Breeder has his own army here in movie 1? The rise and fall of Breeder throughout the trilogy is interesting. In movie 1 he has a full-on empire, in movie 2 he's still a competent and capable villain but only has a handful of more personal and intimate minions remaining to him, in movie 3 he's dead and has only a single relative carrying on his legacy. That's an interesting and creative centaur chair. Got a nice laugh out of Centaur tripping over the rock. Don't worry, Centy, you'll have plenty (well... a few) cool moments in the movies ahead... I seem a bit more playful, mischievous, and maybe even mildly antagonistic here in my debut appearance. In movies 2 and 3 I'm purely nice and mature. Hm, I dunno about self-identification being the most important thing... mistypes are certainly a thing that exists, but in most cases I don't think that people can accurately ascertain the types of others since much of it relies on internal thought patterns and processing patterns that nobody aside from the person in question has access to, and which aren't necessarily conveyed via their words or verbal output (ie perceiving functions like Ni and Si are much more invisible than the more externalized Fe and Te). Also people are complex and can express certain traits and qualities in different ways, in counterintuitive ways, etc. It's less "You are whatever you say you are" (It would be kind of a pointless system if there was zero strucure or definition to the theory at all and it had infinite flexibility) and more "I'm not in any position to say what you are or aren't because I don't have access to your mind and people are too complicated to make quick judgments about, and it would also be rude and kind of dickish to say that I know you better than you know yourself, so I'd keep quiet even if I did think you might be mistyped." But yeah, if you walked away from anything I said thinking that I was suggesting that rules and definitions don't exist and theory doesn't matter, then that must have been a failure on my part to clearly communicate. All of those things do exist and matter and play a role, they're just... more lenient, more complex, require more thought and analysis, and allow for a longer leash than what most of the people here believe. Most anons believe in the abstract that everyone uses all 8 functions, but if you visibly use even trace amounts of one or two functions, then that must be your dominant; no further analysis is given as to whether those functions could be further down the chain despite their visibility, whether the visibility of said function exists thanks only to specific conditions and contexts, etc. And of course, "This person is mistyped" is often used as shorthand for "I think this person is dumb and I don't like them, therefore they can't have (Good points of function x they supposedly come up short in) and must have an excess of (Bad traits from function y)." The regs who receive mistyping accusations the least are those who are the least controversial and draw the least ire. Anyway, on to page 14. "I'd like to get to know you better." What a misleading and provocative way to phrase that. :p Bad me, leading on Centaur. Hm, INFJ-A's armor mitigates the impact, but Centaur and I still have to pull him away to safety afterwards because he's still too hurt to fight. I might tweak the initial 'mitigates the impact' line since the most common interpretation would probably be that the armor makes it so that he's almost/completely unscathed (as opposed to reducing the damage from 'dying' to 'considerably injured'). This first fight in the series is more visceral and brutal than what most of the fights in the two sequels are like, between Frogoid soldiers dragging Rxy along by the hair or bashing Chuck's head against a tree. On /mbti/ movie trilogy message boards, there might be a certain demographic that thinks the movies softened up and became too PG and family-friendly after the more brutal original. Really cool fight scene, serves well as the series' first. >ywn fight Frogoid soldiers with INFJ-A, Rxy, Chuck, and Centaur. Damn, I'd actually completely forgotten about Turbie before he makes his somewhat late debut on page 18. I enjoy his softcore **** introduction. ENFJ-senpai! It's interesting that she seems to be the only one (besides Centaur) who knows Turbie prior to the events of the movie. Something to cover in Movie 0. Oh no... Breeder joins the party. Dammit INFJ-A, use your Dom Ni to intuit that he isn't to be trusted and shouldn't join us. I'm not the first person to say this, but Breeder's obsession with breeding is pretty great. It's nice that he receives a dramatically larger role here than in either of the two sequels, where in movie two he's the primary villain but rarely seen and in the finale he's long dead. Centaur made Turbie annoyed in the work flashback, that's quite an accomplishment. "but Sophie overtakes him and everyone except Chuck follows her instead." kek. Poor INFJ-A... he does have a cool character design in this series, makes a better leader/main protagonist than me. Prince's brief cameo (hopefully not the only appearance) was very based. "Ah, the help of a stranger or the face of danger? In need or indeed?" His lyrical dialogue is fun to read. Oh, guess it wasn't his only appearance after all. Hi again Prince. Been all of two pages. The second battle of the movie is against another legion of Frogoid soldier troops. So far we haven't engaged any 'important' named characters. I consider that a good thing though, as I said in a previous review I find large-scale battles against nameless grunts and mooks fun and exciting and entertaining in a different way from fights involving singular villains of significance. Mmm, a giant pickle. Pickles are one of the best foods in existence. "This canyon is starting to look more and more breedable." Hm... I'll assume this is Prince's last appearance (until maybe the end of the movie) since you implied that he has a moderate role, and if he makes many more appearances that would place him in the 'large role' category. It's sweet that Prince is so infatuated with Turbie, though. By the way, are you the one who made that "/mbti regs as fantasy characters" list? I'm curious why I was a mystical floating orb of light if so. Welcome back, Breeder. The fact that you disappear every other scene and spend half the time away from the group isn't suspicious at all. And so we come across the Guardian Commander. The first non-minor grunt we encounter in the movie (and overall series). ... and by far the shortest fight thus far. Actually it wasn't even really a fight, I just OHKO'd him. Interesting portrayal of me as a somewhat selfish glory hog. There's never any mention of this made in either of the two sequels (where I'm just a purehearted mommy with all traces of brattiness gone), so I wonder if this plot thread was something that you didn't think up until writing movie one, or if you just simply never mentioned it in movies 2 and 3 post-character development. "Us breaking up might be exactly what Sophie wants." Wtf. No, Chuck, I'm not that bad! Breeder deliberately missing with the rock is an interesting tiny bit of characterization, though. I guess he does have a bit of genuine goodness and decency to him. Ah fuck. Trapped in a spider's web. Pretty sure I'd have a fatal heart attack at this point and die long before movies 2 and 3 come to pass. Nice little moment on page 56 where INFJ-A and Breeder have an intuitive moment that's lost on Chuck (and me as well, I'm not sure what specific thought process they were sharing, or if you're supposed to be able to understand what they're thinking at all beyond "INFJ-A and Breeder are having a shared 2abstract4u intuitive moment"). Chuck's pretty cute and likable in this movie (and thus far - page 56 - has been much more prominent than Rxy). Shame that one random anon made a drive-by inflammatory post and memed her out of existence for movie 3. A choir of Frogoid children singing a song together makes for a very nice mental image. Would be one of the most memorable visuals in the movie in an actual MBTI movie (which - as someone that pays close attention to technology on a daily basis, and has done so since 2011 - will almost certainly be something that AI can produce at some point during 2024, and there's even a chance of it being possible by the end of this year, albeit not necessarily in the highest of quality - high quality is basically guaranteed for 2024 though), and also an obvious scene to include in the trailer. "Do I really have to share a room with that?" Damn, INFJ-A really hates me. Just because I'm a mildly narcissistic egotistical show-off who dresses like a whore doesn't mean I deserve to be hated... I think. The scenes where Breeder interrogates everyone are interesting. You seem to depict me as being an ENFJ if anything, and maybe Rxy since Breeder's assessment is that she's Fe first and Ni second. INFJ's description of himself obviously leans towards INFJ, though Breeder's response is slightly more ambiguous (it could be interpreted as him agreeing with the INFJ typing, but 'surprisingly little importance on logic' sounds more like Inferior Ti than Tert Ti). Chuck seems to be aligned with her stated ISTP type, and Centaur doesn't narrow things down to a specific type, the main takeaway is just that he's dumb. (In-story, not irl) Mosley! Good to have someone that doesn't hate me around. Laser trap scenes have always been cool. Good to see myself be involved with one. "Understood. I'm more comfortable in a helping role anyway." Nice callback to what I've said in the past. You really do pay a lot of attention to what the people say here, huh. Energy guns/blasters are a common sci-fi weapon of choice, but I've never heard of energy machine guns. That's pretty badass, especially when they're dual energy machine guns. "Turbie may not look like it, but he's a genius." Back-handed compliment. Can't say that's not vintage Centaur. What's the story behind the "Oh god the trauma" meme again? I think that was during my 1-2 year leave of absence. I thought to myself "I wonder why Mosley doesn't join the main group after this adventure is over?" during these past ~30 pages where he's been a part of the core team. The penultimate page covers that, even if it's a shame that he's riding off into the sunset now and won't rejoin us for the second and third adventures. (And yeah, I'm never moving. Not only do I love where I live, the house has also been fully paid-off. Definitely my forever home.) And true to my musings that MBTI might play a larger role in this one than the sequels (kinda - Movie 2, as the first written chronologically, might have employed the most frequent references to typology), the movie ends us with singing a cute little song about MBTI. >The faded/blurred Breeder is a figment of his relative's memory and imagination, or how Breeder's relative imagines Breeder would react to his actions. Ah, that's a surprise. I figured that was the real spirit of Breeder watching over him. >In addition, I imagine you might stay in /mbti/ longer than most other regulars It's doubtful that I'll ever leave altogether, yeah. A lot of people use r9k as a sort of 'waiting room' where they wait around until they become normalfags, at which point they ascend to the realm of normalcy and leave Limbo/r9k behind, but to me it's just... a place to post? Even if I ever get married (the one and only 'normalcy' link remaining that I care about attaining, otherwise I'm perfectly fine being hermetic), I'll continue posting sometimes because there's no reason not to; I never viewed this place as some kind of Limbo for me to ascend from once I get my 'life in order' anyway. >You come across as individualistic at least in these threads Kinda. It's a trait that's grown with age, and which didn't really exist at all prior to my mid-20s. I try to keep in touch with what my feelings and preferences are as an adult because I never did that at all prior to 22, and not understanding myself or what's good for me led me through some amount of pain that could have been avoidable otherwise. >Thank you for the great review. You're very welcome, and I hope you enjoyed this one as well. If you ever write any other screenplays, I'll be back to review them in a similar fashion. ^^ >I hope you dislike it less than I do. Hm, why do you dislike it? Is this the first movie you've disliked? I enjoyed it a lot and think it could easily be seen as the best one. The fact that all the enemies were frogoids gave the movie a nice sense of thematic consistency, and this likely had the most interesting character writing since the fact that we're (well, me and to a lesser degree INFJ-A) are pre-character development mean that there's a lot more friction amongst the group. I don't really see any flaws or things to criticize here at all.
